February Cooking Events

Catering for Kent's Hilde wanted to show her support for CLIC Sargent and to this end has spent the month of February organising and taking part in a number of cooking events with money raised going to the charity.

The first of these events was pancake flipping in Canterbury in collaboration with Riverford Organic on Friday 11 February. Catering for Kent baked around 100 pancakes in 3 hours and to round off the fun flipped pancakes with the Mayor of Canterbury. Good food, good fun and donations to CLIC Sargent raised £129.00! Thank you to Riverford Organic who donated pancake kits.

To celebrate Shrove Tuesday (also known as Pancake Day) on Tuesday 21 February Catering for Kent will be guests on the Kent business radio show as well as flipping pancakes live on air. Tune in at 1pm on Tuesday 21 February (or if you miss it, listen to the podcast of the taped show). You can also hear Hilde on the BBC Radio Kent Pat Marsh show by listening to the MP3 recording (opens in a new window - may take some time to load - 4MB). [Pancake Day is known for the eating of pancakes before the start of Lent. Pancakes are eaten on this day because they contain fat, flour, butter and eggs which were traditionally restricted during the ritual fasting associated with Lent].

Catering for Kent will be exhibiting at the County Square Food Festival in Ashford between the 8 - 11 March where you can find out about their cookery classes and cooking lessons. There will be free biscuit decorating at the stall with all donations going to CLIC Sargent.
